SIMULATE. EXPERIMENT. BREW BETTER.

See what happens inside your brew.

Coffee behaves like physics. Change one variable, keep everything else exactly the same, and watch what it does to the cup — the controlled comparison a real brew can never give you.

How it works

  1. 1Pick an experimentOne variable changes; everything else stays identical — a controlled comparison no real brew can give you.
  2. 2Watch the physicsA finite-volume extraction model computes both brews live in your browser.
  3. 3Read the cupTDS, extraction yield and a predicted taste profile — side by side.

Frequently asked questions

What is CoffeeScope?

CoffeeScope is an interactive coffee-brewing simulator that runs in your browser. It models the physics of extraction in V60 and AeroPress brews, so you can experiment freely and better understand your brewer — without using coffee for every trial. More brewers — French press, moka pot, espresso and more — already run in the engine and are being readied for upcoming invitation waves.

How does the brew simulation work?

It runs a live finite-volume multiphysics model of heat, saturation, extraction and flow through the coffee bed. The brew is rendered as a 3D rig you can slice open to see the coffee bed, water and cup in cross-section.

What variables can I experiment with?

You change one variable at a time — grind size, pour pattern, brew ratio or water temperature — and compare two brews side by side. That is exactly what a simulator is good at: in a real brew you can never change just one thing, and no two pours are ever quite the same. CoffeeScope reports drawdown time, TDS, extraction yield and a predicted taste profile for each brew — so you can run as many comparisons as you like.

Is CoffeeScope free?

CoffeeScope is completely free to use. No sign-up required, no payment today or ever.

Do I need to install anything?

No. CoffeeScope runs entirely in a modern web browser and requires WebGL2; there is nothing to download or install.

Who is CoffeeScope for?

Curious home brewers first — people who want to build intuition for how each variable shapes the cup. It also suits educators teaching extraction, product developers prototyping brewers, and coffee shops running interactive exhibitions.
